Bylaw Overview

Cardston

Bylaw # 13:  Parking Bylaw

No truck or motor vehicle or combination of motor vehicles, or motor vehicle and trailer, other than a passenger car, over twenty (20) feet in length shall at ay time be parked on Main Street in the town of Cardston between second and fourth Avenues:

  1. within 260 feet West of Main street on 2nd Ave.
  2. within 260 feet West of Main Street on 3rd. Ave.
  3. Within 260 feet West on Main Street on 4th Ave.

As the town of Cardston started to emerge, it was soon filled with hustle and bustle.  It was often difficult for wagons to park anywhere.  Imagine turning a four- horse team and buggy around in Main Street!  This bylaw was put into place to ensure that people could not only come to town but also visit the many merchants.

This bylaw was important then, it no longer exists today.
