Turner Valley Student Story 3:
Denning Ranch

If not for the grass and trees that covered me I would be bare.  The grass is everywhere but the trees dot me in clumps.  On a day when the sky was blue and the sun shone, some people came and started cutting my grass and some of my trees. Some of these people stayed and built a hut.  The people that stayed were called the Dennings.  The Dennings bought animals and had to build fences to keep the animals safe, at home and away from other people’s animals.  One type of animal was called a dog and it did not notice the fences.  The Denning children played outside.  When snow fell on me they made snow houses but in summer they made twig houses or just ran around.  The Dennings let their animals called cows and horses eat my grass.  The family sometimes acted like coyotes and killed game for food.  They built more fences, and they built houses for the animals.  Now the present Dennings had children.  These children mostly play inside and they still farm but in a different fashion.  The Dennings now use loud metal creations to farm.  They call me Bar VX Ranch.
