Turner Valley Student Story 2:
Dr. Lander Memorial Pool

In February 1963 Dr. David Lander turned the sod where I was going to be built.  People dug a hole and poured concrete in.  When the concrete was dry, water got poured into the hole and I became a pool!  I was named the Lander Memorial Pool after Dr. Harry Lander who passed away in May of 1963.  People enjoyed jumping in my water and I was a happy place to be.  The first provincial swim meet was held at my pool.  Today I am still entertaining the residents of Black Diamond and Turner Valley.
