Red Deer Lake Student Story 3:
Ballyhamage school

Ballyhamage school was a Scottish name and it was a one room school house built in 1919 and held 18 students. Ballyhamage school was a plain grey and brown schools with no paint on it. The windows and doors were cracked, and the chimney was missing bricks. Ballyhamage school was not like the schools we have now.

Ballyhamage school is very important for Red Deer Lake for the children’s education and for the unmarried teachers who wanted jobs. Ms. Curlage was one of the children who went to the school.

Now Ballyhamage school is fixed up and is the Layton center. The Layton center is a place anyone can go to look at the museum or do the activities.
