Melrose School Student Story 2

Lexa:  It is a brand new school we are the first children in 1890 to go to the Melrose School. Remember Vickey you’re in grade one and Liza and I are in grade two.

Vikey: Okay Wow our class is sooo nice all the grades from 1 to 8 learning together. There is also a coal stove to warm us all.

Teacher: Now class our classroom is 20 feet tall and 28 feet wide, I expect you all to behave yourselves. Our class doesn’t close down when it is cold. We only close down when the weather is really bad and I’m talking 50 below. We start school at 9:00 am sharp and end school at 3:00pm. In the winter we start school at 9:30 am because it is cold and we don’t want you to ride your horse in the dark.

The bell rang for lunch

Teacher:  Class, get your lunch out. Now class I know we don’t have many books but as a treat I will read you a book after you come in from recess.

Kids: All right Mrs. Andrews

Lexa:  Mrs. Andrews will we ever have a dance night where we can bring our family?

Vickey:  Yes can we?

Teacher:  Yes of course we will have one tonight. You can bring or make your own instruments. Remember bring your siblings they can sleep behind the piano.
