Longview Student Story 1:
Community

Little New York was named in 1937. It grew very quickly, because of the oil boom. People would come in with their skids and have a long skinny house which didn’t have running water or an indoor bathroom they had a little shack outside in the back. The neighboring towns were Little Philadelphia and Little Chicago. Little Chicago was also known as Royalties. Little New York had a huge hill just outside of town; it was known as the Big Hill. The Gallup’s (who owned the hill) donated ten acres to the school so they would keep the school in Little New York. Little New York is now know as Longview
