Longview Student Story 1:
Community - English Corner

“It was like a Coffee Shop with No Coffee!”

The English Corner was just a nickname. The nickname came from people that used the English Corner. The people that used English Corner were English from England.
It was at a corner, so that’s how English Corner got its name. People went there to talk, visit and get to talk to family back home. The only way to talk to family back home was writing letters. The mail was put in a water trough with a lid. There never was an actual building there. “It was like a coffee shop, with no coffee!” It was located 2 miles south of Longview on Highway 22 at the end of Jorawsky’s driveway.
