Research GroupsResearch groups were an expedient
method of information gathering on
a broad range of topics: Native People, settlement of the community and
the future. In the information gathering stage, groups were able to utilize
information from the work
previous students had published in the history segment of our school
web-pages. Students, as researchers began to gain an appreciation for
the greater history of the community
of Millarville. They were also aware that they would be reflecting on their new learning and applying it as they answered their three main questions:
The class then held discussions about what they had learned in their groups and from the presentations and how this might help them understand, or answer the 3 main questions. The class brainstormed together and discussed their thoughts. Finally the students were asked to reflect about the historical information they had gathered about their topic and begin to write guided by their 3 main questions. |
