Turner Valley Student Story 2:
Blakeman's General Store

In 1911 I was built for Eric Buckler. Eric Buckler used me as a general store, pool hall, and butcher shop. Business was not going well so I was boarded up. No other stores moved next to me. I was so lonely and quiet. In 1921 John Blakeman Jr. bought me and things got exiting. I could finally feel the people walking on my floors again and taking food off my shelves. I heard the sound of the bell ringing when the door opened and closed. John sold house wares, building supplies, horse equipment, groceries and meat. In 2008 I am the oldest original structure in Black Diamond and I am still standing strong.
