High River Student Story 4:
George Lane Park

We have a story and some facts on George Lane and George Lane Park.

Did you know he was one of the first residents of High River?

He donated his land to the town and they used it to build a park before he died.

This is our story. George Lane was showing His Royal Highness the Duke around his ranch and he kept calling his Royal Highness just Duke, until his friend pulled him to the side and told him he had to call the Duke “His Royal Highness the Duke” instead of just “the duke”. So as a joke for three days he called the Duke “His Royal Harness the Duke”. Afterwards the Duke said that George was one of the funniest guys he had ever met.
