Eden Valley Elder Story 1:
Chief Jacob Bearspaw School

Who is this and why are they significant to the Stoney people?

This is Chief Jacob Bearspaw, and he was one of the people who went to sign the Treaty #7 at Blackfoot Crossing.

Okay. What has he done for the Stoney people?

He kept the Stoney people down this way, for the people who did not want to go to Morley and stay there. A lot of his descendents from him live down here on the Eden Valley Reserve. That is why the school is called Chief Jacob Bearspaw School.
