An Heroic Debate

Like an argument? Of course you do, but a debate is more than just an argument. It can be a great way to understand a range of opinion, take on a new position about something or defend your own opinion. Not everyone see heroes the same way. Choose one of the following statements as the basis for a class debate, or do a series of debates: It doesn't matter whether heroes are male or female Female heroes are only convincing when they behave as males (example: Joan of Arc, Eowyn in "Lord of the Rings") Female heroes are different than males (example: Mother Teresa) Heroes always need an audience People really just act heroically to gain something for themselves There are no heroes anymore.
