Melrose Family student Story 1:
Norris Family

 

CORI: This is Cori and Logan reporting live from Heritage Heights School. We are now interviewing Mr. Martin. Mr. Martin, can you tell us a little about the Norris family?
JONATHON: Why yes the Norris family was Laura and Howard Norris they had 10 kids; 4 girls and 6 boys.
LOGAN: Wow! That seems like a lot how do they put up with that?
JONATHON: Well Laura kept them happy and never yelled at them. Laura was a gentle person and never tried to hurt the kid’s feelings also farming jobs kept the kids busy.
LOGAN: So where was Howard Norris born?
JONATHON:  Howard Norris was born March 3rd 1891 in the district of Melton Ontario.
LOGAN: What was the hardest time for the Norris family?
JONATHON: Well all the time was the hard for the Norris family because they worked 18 hours a day. They had to keep a lot of clothing10 kids was hard take care of. With a family of 12 it takes a lot of food to feed the family. Also there was a lot of physical demanding work.
JONATHON:  Well do you want to know what the Norris family’s entertainment was?
CORI: Why Yes we would be glad to know.
JONATHON:  The Norris family’s entertainment took place at the Okotoks Fair. Laura loved to go there.
