High River Student Story 2:
Tongue Creek Road

My name is Jacob and he is Stefan and we’ll be telling the story of how Tongue Creek Road got its name.

Clip Clop Clip Clop. “Wow boy, what happened here?”

“Looks like a wagon crash Bobby. “

“And look over there, it looks like the tongue of the wagon.”

“Let’s go over and check it out.”

“Alright. It is! It is a silver tongue.”

Then Bobby saw the people who got in the crash. “Are you okay?”

“Fine, could be better, but fine.”

“Joe, come over here and help these folks get to safety.”

“Okay, Bobby.” After they had got the family to safety they asked the parents what had happened.

“The road was so bumpy that the wagon fell apart before we knew it we were lying on the ground. Sure was shocked when you cowboys came along.”

“So you mean to tell me the road is so bumpy that the wagon fell apart?”

“Yes.”

Tongue Creek Road got its name because the road was so bumpy that the wagon fell apart. And all the time it would find the tongue to the wagon, so they named it Tongue Creek Road.
