Our Potato Adventure with Uncle Jim

Uncle Jim brought in some of his heritage seed potatoes. You can see the students counting the eyes on the potatoes. This is important because the potato eyes are where the sprouts of the new potato plant begin. You have to cut up the seed potato to plant it. When you cut it up you have to make sure you have about 3 eyes in each piece to make sure it will grow.

The students made French Fries from some of the heritage potatoes.
