"We must set an example now and move environmentalism from being the philosophy of a passionate minority to a way of life that automatically integrates ecology into governmental policy and normal living standards." -Leonardo DiCaprio

Bow River Cleanup

Contaminated water causes an estimated 30 000 deaths daily. In developing nations 80% of diseases are water related. Water is a primary factor in human health and well being, and has a profound humanitarian impact.

The students from Glendale Elementary School participated in TD's Great Canadian Shoreline Cleanup. The shoreline cleanup collects valuable data from the trash collection, making it one of the largest contributors to the International Costal Cleanup database. In 2006, participants in the Shoreline Cleanup collected 84,708 kg of trash in one week.

Not only did students help clean up our waterways, but they learned about and had hands on experience electrofishing, identifying plants, conducting a pond study, and learning about shoreline water chemistry..
