Black Diamond - Student Story 1

Rural School

The plans were made to build me on July 8, 1915 at Ed Andrew’s house one and a half miles east of Black Diamond.  My doors swung open welcoming the children that same year.  On my property there is a barn for the children’s horses, a wood shed for firewood, a pump house for fresh water, and a house for the teacher to live in.  In 1927 another room was added to my structure to house the children that came with the discovery of oil.  My doors were closed in 1951 when the children were bussed to Black Diamond.
