We started building models of our inuksuk. You can see some of our designs
on this page. Some of our students are pasting the prototypes over a
picture of the actual location so we can make a better decision about
how the final inuksuk should look.
|
Adrian: I started my Inuksuk because our school was looking for
a symbol. In my first attempt I experimented with the rocks because
I thought it was important to create the symbol showing balance. |
|
Sam: My first attempt looked like a dog sled. I think I actually
captured the culture of the Inuit. Dog sledding is a part of their
everyday lives. |
|
Cody: My original idea was to have an Inuksuk stand or represent
the doorway of learning. These were my initial thoughts. |
|
David: My thought was to create something that showed the doorway
to learning, an arch which marks the entry to the school. |
|
Kyle: The size of the Inuksuk doesn't really matter, it is
the ring of protection that is created around it. Stones guarding
the ancient law symbolized there was a curse or protection of that
area, if you broke that area you would break the curse or the protection
of the area. This was a belief of the Ancient Inuit. |
