Siksika Elder Story 1:
Stories

How did the kids get to school from their houses?

By a team of horses.  And if you got a riding horse, your parents would tie that on the back of the wagon for when you get to the school. And on Friday you were all excited because your grandparents were going to tie your saddle horse on the back of the wagon so you could ride it home. Very few, I don’t even remember seeing a truck or a car, it’s all horses.

How did our culture come back?

The only way we got them back was when they closed the boarding schools. Then we were free to go to the Sundance and learn more, because we were moving off the reserve, no more boarding schools.
