When a person or a place has a name it is easier to find the person or the place. If you don’t have a name you are really not a part of things. You are a nobody. If you have a name you are a somebody. Then they respect you. Without names we wouldn’t know which park to go to. It would be the park without a name. When we name a place it is important to remember the wild plants on the hillside like the crocus on Crocus Ravine. Names are important to recognize people and places who were special so you don’t forget them because they played a special part in our town like a town councilor. When we see or hear a name we wonder about the name and the person. You wonder about why someone would take that name, what was going through a person’s mind. Sometimes I wondered what they did in their life. Some names are chosen just because it feels right and sounds beautiful.
