Davisburg Community Senior Story 2

The next school district before the river was called Davisburg, and that's where I was born and raised and so was my mom. And my dad's family settled there back in the 1880's.
Davisburg, again, was named after a gentleman. First of all, though, it was named Glenberg and was [called that] in honor of the family. One of the original founding families here [were] called Beg. And then later it was changed to Davisburg to honor Mr. D. W. Davis, who was the first member of the Canadian House of Commons from Alberta. He represented this area down here in Ottawa. And that's how Davisburg originally got its name. My mother's maiden name was Davis, and I always thought it was named after my family, but it wasn’t. It was named after another gentleman.
At school there was a pond of water fairly close and at lunch time we were allowed to go over there and skate.
We were told to go a certain way to the pond and I went a different way and fell through some ice that was in the ditch and got very wet. So that was probably something I remember because I was scared because I though maybe I would really be in trouble. But I was soaking wet and there were no clothes to change so I just had to sit by the fire until I dried off to go home.
