Value Of Teepee Races

The Hand Game 1Oral Communication by Dr. Reg Crowshoe

"It's a challenge to put a teepee up if you have poles, you have buttons, you have rope, you have a teepee, you have pickets and when they're laying all in front of you, it's a big puzzle.

But to put it up is another challenge and we were encouraged when we were young to know how to put up teepee, but after I learned how to put up a teepee then he encouraged me to try some teepee races just so I'd have confidence, build confidence in putting teepees up.

I value teepee races not only for knowing how to put up the teepee because we don't want out teepee culture to die out but also to build confidence in our youth of who they are, and also to build confidence in knowing how to put up a teepee, ah and I think ah the teepee race is a good example of how do you build confidence."
