Students Discuss "Bannock"

Making Bannock 1Teacher "How to make Bannock, so how do you make Bannock?"

Student "You put flour and water and put it in a bowl, and sugar and salt, and then you mix it up with water and make it into a dough and then you put it on a stick and you cook it."

Teacher "How do you cook it, what did you guys do?"

Student "With fire, and it's on the stick and then you wait a while after it's done. After it's black, you can eat it."

Teacher "Did you guys like it?"

Student "Yeah"

Teacher "Yeah?"

Bannock 4Teacher 2 "Make sure you always pinch a hole in the middle of your dough."

Teacher "Why?"

Teacher 2 "Like when you put it in the oven the heat comes up and escapes."

Teacher "Because what?"

Teacher 2 "So the heat can escape."

Teacher "So when you put it in the oven you that too?"

Teacher 2 "No, just when you fry it. "

Teacher "Just when you fry it?"

Bannock 5Teacher "Well done... what a cook you are! You've done this before haven't you?"

Student "My Momma teaches us."

Teacher "Excellent!"
