"The number 4 is in the Stoney and the Blackfoot stories,
4 seasons, 4 winds, 4 directions. There must be something about
this number 4 it must be special to the native people."
"Both of the Ancient stories have animals in them. The animals
talk to each other and also to the people. There seems to be a lot
of respect for the animals with the native people especially the
eagle. We don't have the same respect for our animals but we still
like them."
"Both of the Ancient stories have places where they talk to
the spirits. We are wondering if the native people have the same
spirits and if they do how do they know to have the same spirits
when they have never met each other. Or did they at some time meet
each other?
"There is a respect for the land in the Ancient Stories. We
can understand that because we have a respect for our land too.
We felt it when we sat on the land. It is very powerful. We know
how they feel."
"Both of the Ancient Stories have a trickster, Na'pe and Iktomni.
They both like to brag and sometimes they get into a lot of trouble.
We are wondering if they are cousins or brothers because they are
very much the same. Why do the Stoney and the Blackfoot have a trickster
in their stories?"
"The elders are very important to the Stoney and the Blackfoot
Everyone listens to them and enjoys their stories. The stories always
told something that was very important. This was a good way to learn.
We enjoyed their stories."
