Famous Cowboys from the Bar U

Stories of ranching and cowboy life have been sung and told around campfites in the hills surrounding the Bar U Ranch for over a century. Two classrooms of grade 3 students at Red Deer lake Scholl set out to find these stories that talked of the culture of ranchig, understand them, and then retell them in their own voices. They visite and interviewed the historians at the Bar U Ranch. They read stories, watched videos, listened to the lyrics in cowboy music and talked about the powerful images in cowboy poetry. Once these stories were discovered, shared and understood, they decided that they needed to be retold, shared and discussed through video. They wrote the script, rehearsed, acted and filmed at the Bar U Ranch, and then edited the video to share with others. Read the stories as written by the grade 3 students at Red Deer Lake School.
