Project Scenario
Your mom and dad have just learned that they will be taking new jobs working for the Canadian Government. On the Easter holiday, your family is being transferred to Iqaluit, Nunavut. This is the first year that this job is being filled and you have been asked to keep a diary during your year in Iqaluit. The information in this diary will help other children who will be following you in future years. Through your diary entries they will get a sense of what life is like in an Arctic community.
As your Grade 3 class has been studying the Inuit, you already have some knowledge on the topic. You have also worked on and seen power-point presentations on various aspects of Inuit culture.
You will receive flight information for your travel day and a map of Iqaluit to help you find out what businesses and services you will find in your new community.
In order to help you complete this diary, you should use information you have gathered from our guest speaker, video presentations, the artifacts we have examined, the books, stories, legends we have been reading, as well as from books, power point presentations and the web sites your have visited.
