Friday April 13, 2001

We have just landed and we are in the airport and all ready we can see a lot of Inuit. Some of the Inuit are speaking Inuktitut. We are going to have to use a skidoo to get home. On the way home we will go past the Kamotiq Inn Restaurant. When we get to my new home I’m going to unpack.

It is my second day in Iqaluit and I really like it here. We are going to The Snack today. Today, I get to ride with Dad.

At the snack I met a friend. We are going to go ice fishing together. To get to the sea it takes about ten minutes from The Snack. At the sea we caught five fish. We let the fish dry that night. We had a feast.

Today we went to get registered for school. Back in Millarville, we got registered too. Tonight we had dinner with a friend. We had dry fish, seal and chicken. To be continued…

Second Entry - Summer

July 13, 2001

Today we went camping. I took a friend with me. His name is Qalk and he is my best friend. I tell him about Millarville. Qalk and I went in a double kayak. We got to the campsite first. When we got to the campsite, we started making an Inukshuk. When we finished it was taller than me. We had a picnic of seal and fish.

My Dad made me some carving tools. I am going to carve a polar bear and Qalk is going to make an owl. He is a much better carver than I am because he has more experience. It is suppertime and we are having a campfire. The food is good and we listen to wolves. It is fun.

Third Entry - Winter

December 13, 2001

Today was the igloo building contest and I entered. In the Arctic, you get out of school early. We live next to the igloo so we could walk. It takes me two hours to build my igloo. I lost.

I am ten years old and I can go hunting. When we got to the hunting grounds the Inukshuks are there and a herd of caribou is there. Each hunter comes back with a caribou.

Today we went to the Northern Store. Mom bought me a play spear and my sister a ulu so we can practice. We each wanted to pick the perfect one. My sister got an ulu the right size and I got a spear the perfect size.
