Story of my quilt piece..told by Cole

In my picture I painted a forest because there is a forest beside my house. I like to play in the forest. Sometimes I play hide and go seek in the willow trees. That is the best place to play. The trees in my picture are not willow trees they are spruce trees. They are not very good but that is because I drew them when I was much younger. At the beginning of grade one and now I am in the middle of grade one. There are lots of animals in the forest beside my house. There are wolves and coyotes and even a wild steer. My dad was trying to load our steer to take it to Turner Valley to be butchered and it didn't want to go and so it jumped the fence and is now out in the forest with the rest of the animals. My dad is going to get our friend Jo and they are going to go out and shoot the steer. Jo knows how to skin and gut and so he is going to help my dad and me. We are going to go out with a skidoo or a quad because a horse is not strong enough. The steer weighs 800 pounds. That is big. My dad hopes that it goes to the willow trees because then we can see it and shoot it. If not we are going to put a bale of hay out by the gate and then it will come to eat and we can get it. We have to wait until Jo comes home from work. I like my forest.

Story of my quilt piece..told by Hannah

I drew a picture of a castle. I drew a castle because I like castles and many people have not even been in a castle or saw a castle so it would be nice just to see one. I want to go to England some day and go into a castle. My castle has a bedroom and basement where the dungeon is. Did you know that they put bad people in the dungeon? In my castle there is a princess named Diamond and a prince named Charming. They are both in the castle watching T.V. just like I like to do. There is also a King and a Queen. They are just sitting on their thrones. What else would a King and Queen do? Well it is a sunny day outside so I drew a sun. I drew trees and flowers. One is blue and one is yellow. Those are my favorite colors of flowers. I like flowers just as much as I like castles.

There is a girl in my picture and she has an Appaloosa horse. She wants an Appaloosa horse so I drew one. She would like to ride and play with this horse and if she got one she would call him Spotty. See where I drew the blue spots on this horse. His name is Spotty. The girl in the picture is 6 just like me. I drew a stable in my picture for the horse. He has to have a place to live when he is not with the little girl. His favorite trail is out in the woods. I put a flower and a star in the picture so that my picture would have details. Up in the sky I put a sun and a cloud because that is usually what is up in the sky at my place.

I drew a unicorn in my picture because a unicorn is my favorite animal. Did you know that the unicorn is extinct? Well not really because the unicorn is an imaginary animal and so it is already extinct except in your imagination. I put a butterfly on top of the unicorn because the butterfly is my favorite bug and so it should go on top of my favorite animal. The rainbow is at the top because..because it is just beautiful and it needs to be in the sky.

I like different colors and different patterns and happy pictures and so that is what I wanted to make my quilt look like. I drew a peace sign because my mom painted one on my face once. I drew a couple of stars and made them happy stars. I drew happy faces because I just like happy faces and I wanted them in my picture. Do you see the rainbow at the top? I colored it the colors of the rainbow and put it in the sky because that is where it goes. The rainbow has happy colors don't you think? The trees that I drew are pine trees and they look good in the picture. I like my picture because it is happy.
