Tomorrow by Ben

"I don't want to go to Grandmas. All she talks about is how hard it was to feed the cow this morning!" Thomas said in disgust.

"If you don't want to go, then I will find you a babysitter." His mom said matter of factly.

"I am not a baby! I am a toddler," the annoyed voice of Thomas came back!

"Your sister is five. She needs a baby sitter," mother pointed out.

"Well, well, fine I will go, but I'm not going to like it," Thomas angrily said because he did not get his way.

"You stay down here and play with your toys, I will be upstairs talking to grandma."

" I should have chosen the baby sitter."

" What?"" Nothing."

Wow, one hour and I'm already bored. I want to go see if we can go home now. The stairs look like the ones I can't get up at home but I bet I can get up these ones. Fifth stair! Eight more to go! Uh-oh! Thump, thump, thump, thump, thump. Ow! They are steep but I can do it this time, for sure. Thump, thump, thump. I did worse than last time! I need some support here. "Mom!!" Darn! She can't hear me. Maybe in the future they will have something that you can talk into and the person on the other side can hear and talk to you from the little thing.

Grandma quickly came down the stairs after hearing Thomas's frustrating thumps! She picked him up and carried him up the steep stairs. Instead of bringing him to his Mom she brought him to an old rusted trunk that sat at the end of the bed in the spare room. As she opened it up it creaked loudly. Out of it came the smell of dust and mothballs. Thomas tried to sneak over to look inside but he was too small.

His Grandma pulled out an old pair of skates. These were not like the skates that Thomas knew. They did not have a covering over them and they were skinny. She handed them over to Thomas and helped him put them on over his shoes. He tried to stand up but he felt wobbly. He then took them off and put them aside.
