WorkingOne Saturday morning I woke up and went downstairs. "Mom can I have some breakfast?" I said. "After you dig the potatoes and carrots." So I grabbed a basket and went to dig the potatoes and carrots. When I came in I had a basket full of potatoes and carrots. I asked for some breakfast again. "After you milk the cow," Mom said. So I grabbed a tin bucket and
went out with a wool sweater to the dark and damp barn. As I walked into
the barn I heard, "oink, oink, cock-a-doodle-doo, moo, moo bock,
bock and he, ha". I went into the cow's stall and started milking.
I had to press on a certain place to make sure the milk went into the
bucket not onto my face. It was hard work. Then I went into the house
once more and asked for some breakfast for the third time. So I grabbed another bucket and went to the pump. I pumped and pumped and pumped the water for my mom and me. The heavy bucket weighed about 20 pounds. I had a difficult time getting it to the house. When I came in again and asked for some breakfast my Mom finally said, "Yes!" |
