Tom Lynch and Bill Moodie

The story of Tom Lynch and Bill Moodie was "uncovered" by visiting and interviewing local ranchers and historians at the Bar U Ranch, reading stories, listening to the lyrics of cowboy music and talking about the powerful images in cowboy poetry. Scripts were written, rehearsed and then filmed at the Bar U Ranch, by grade 3 students at RDL School. Through their voices and stories, the culture of the daily life of the cowboy, the challenges of this life, and the drive and desire of the cowboy will be truly understood.

"Hey! Hey! Tom Lynch do you remember the time when you were in Idaho and you met Fred Stimson buying all that cattle?" questioned Bill Moodie

"Yes I do Bill. I met Fred Stimson when he was buying 3000 head of cattle and 75 horses but he already had 21 bulls but he need cattle," replied Tom Lynch.

"How much was it for one cow in those days?"

"Ah I think it was about 19 dollars," replied Tom.

"Wow that sure isn't much today but it sure was a lot over 100 years ago."

"Yah it sure was," agreed Tom.

"Wasn't it Fred Stimson who hired you as a trail boss?" asked Bill Moodie.

"Yah he hired me to trail cattle 700 miles to the Bar U but I needed help on the trail so I hired 8 more cowboys," said Tom.

"I was one of the 8 cowboys you hired. I said that I would only work for you if you hired my friend John Ware," said Bill.

"Yes he turned out to be one of the greatest wranglers."

"He was better than great he was the best!"
